Social Skills are the skills we use to communicate and interact with each other, both verbally and non-verbally, through gestures, body language and our personal appearance. “Success in today’s world puts a higher premium on character qualities.” Says Andreas Schleicher – Head of Education and Skills for The Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development. Teaching children character building with right life and social skills has the potential to have a real impact on outcomes for them. There has to be greater recognition for the importance of social and life skills in schools as character development. “Education has to be about values, not just about getting a JOB”.
Image matters because people often make assumptions based on limited information. Our impression about people maybe based on how they look, talk or behave resulting in a categorical judgment about them. As Image Consultants we have learnt that a persons overall “image” may consist of a variety of factors including their clothing, grooming, tone of voice, body language, gestures and etiquette. Just as adults have images to create, so do children. Keeping this in mind I have developed a module to equip children and young adults with the vital tools needed to succeed on the playground, in the classroom and ultimately in the world.
We would like to introduce a specialised program ‘SOCIAL SKILLS FOR CHILDREN’ creating a lesson plan geared at teaching the students how to best present themselves and interact with others. This program is designed using a series of fun, interactive workshops, social skills, greeting and introductions, starting conversations, patience and thoughtfulness, self-control respects and dinning etiquette to keep the children engaged and motivated.
The above program has been successfully conducted across various International schools in Mumbai and I take immense pride in mentioning that the program has been very well appraised and applauded. This unique program is my ‘brain child’ and has never been introduced at a School level. I would appreciate to receive an opportunity to take this further and build on a mutually successful relationship.
